The Water's Edge
Fog
floating over the water like a ghastly spirit,
Cool
eerie winds blowing over lurking shadows both dull and lit.
Flag
flying proudly on the land across the bay,
Salty
dark blue waters slathering the shores, as the velvet beach sand gets
washed away.
Small
strip of rustling, green foliage ending into a white beach,
Enticing
budding sailors with a sense of direction and dreams to reach.
Down
came a luscious tall wave,
With
white foam splashing and crashing into a cave.
Crawling
white crabs entering the darkness within,
Clawing
their sandy way in with a fish’s fin.
Shells
lying lazily on the shore,
Some
complete and some with holes in their core.
Under
the sand they try to hide,
Getting
swept and washed up with the tide.
Dim
light settling on the water; with flakes of reflecting sky,
Small
sail boats dancing on the far waves, as their tiny sails fly.
Into
the ocean the sun melts away,
With
yellow, gold waves splashing and marking the end of the day.
Wavy waters touching the horizon trying to kiss the sun,
Bending
its royal golden head, towards the slippery water’s edge, that’s
having so much fun.
