Crescent Island

On a crescent shaped island with ocean submerged rocks,

Contoured and covered in deep maroon sand; nice for pleasant walks.

Beautiful lighthouse up on a broken hill standing high,

For years, flashing its warning light; to boats and passers by.

Glimpses of shiny ocean seen,

in the valley down below, among leaves so green and flowers so keen.

Narrow walking path leading up to a lonely little fort.

Pleasant in the shadows but under the sun, hot.

Leading us around the area are slim uneven pavements with a road that is steep.

For most travellers so many wonderful memories to keep.

Pathways dotted with little shops, restaurants and cafes;

tourists can stay here in bliss for days.

A few miles into the ocean is black volcanic rock,

surrounded by deep azure water and springs that are hot.

A few Boats and ships sailing around,

with a long zigzag pathway to the dock; where they are bound.

Distinct coloured beaches in red, white and black,

All carved from mountainous residue; this alluring island has back to back.

Whitewashed structures with blue dome churches, clinging to the tall red slopes,

Breadth taking sights and views bringing us new hopes.

Your words beautifully describe the place....also the way you animate the blue domed churches and the lighthouse to make them living beings adds decorations to your poem
